The NPA and Medical Prescription Services Ltd. (MPS) have combined forces to bring
patients the
a broad and quality assured service that allows patients access to a full range
of medicines without the need to make an appointment with their GP and no need to
have a prescription in hand.
Medication treating both men’s and women’s health conditions are available along
with, travel health care, STD treatment and medication to treat general health conditions.
By completing a simple online consultation a wide range of health issues can be
easily treated.
This innovative service is designed with the patient in mind to provide the utmost
quality care but removes the obstacle of waiting to see the GP. Online consultations
are designed to mimic a normal patient-doctor appointment and treatment is easily
accessible to all those who need it.
The NPA has been dedicated since 1921 to provide community pharmacy members the
support required to achieve the most professional and beneficial services for their
patients. The NPA is a united voice for UK pharmacist and is involved in decisions
taken by the UK government and other organisations regarding the development and
delivery of healthcare policy. Further afield the NPA also represents the interest
of European pharmacists. We have successfully worked alongside pharmacies to become
the leading UK-wide trade association for community pharmacy.
Caring, Excellence, Ambition, Innovation, Integrity and Accountability make up the
NPA values that allow the organisation to achieve a high standard of services. We
aim to progress in the development of pharmacy practice, education in pharmacy and
the science of pharmacy into to the future to further influence the pharmacy profession.
The
is an innovative idea as it offers a reliable and confidential clinical assessment
of each patients’ medical condition, with the added convenience of Medescribe being
able to generate an electronic prescription to patients who require prescription
only medication.
Pharmacies are key businesses to any community as throughout history there has always
been a need for medicines and always will be. This new 21st century service allows
patients to utilise the capabilities of a local pharmacy and also patients can easily
and efficiently get the treatment they need. The pharmacy profession has developed
greatly over the years and will continue to do so with their roles becoming increasingly
more important to patients. Now with the modern day use of internet prescribing
the advice and guidance from a pharmacist is essential for patients to get the most
out of their medication. The easy accessibility to pharmacies makes pharmacists
convenient health professionals for patients to seek information from and provide
community support.
How Do ‘Pharmacy’ Prescriptions Work?
1) Patient submits their details so they are able to log into their own personal
account
2) The conditions that can be treated by the PPS are listed on the left-hand side.
The patient can select the condition they are interested in.
3) An information page is displayed and the patient is asked to confirm that they
have read it
4) The patient is shown a range of medications to treat their health condition and
then they are invited to start the screening (online consultation) process
5) The patient’s registration information is shown to allow any changes to be made
6) Now the patient starts to complete the medical questionnaire
7) Once the patient has successfully completed their medical questionnaire, without
indicating any contraindications, they are then required to select the particular
medication product they need
8) The patient can print a letter to their GP, advising of the dispensing of their
medication
9) The patient must then book an appointment online to go into their local pharmacy
that provides EPS so that the pharmacist can authorise dispensing of medication
10) A summary page is shown and then the patient is asked to make an online payment
for their medication.
